Geisha are female entertainers. The word literally means ‘person of the arts’ and reflects the intense training in traditional Japanese music, poetry, and dance which a proper “geisha” should have. In years after World War II, the number of these entertainers has declined sharply as men’s tastes change toward bars, clubs and discotheques.
